Evelyn M. Reed

Evelyn M. Reed, age 87 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Friday, January 19, 2018, at her home.

Born in Somerville, NJ, May 19, 1930, daughter of the late Frank and Catherine McCaffrey Berstler, Evelyn was a 1949 graduate of Somerville High School.

Evelyn was employed in retail stores at Turntable Junction and Liberty Village, Flemington, NJ for twenty-eight years.

She was a faithful, active member of the Flemington United Methodist Church for forty-six years; loved working out at the Hunterdon YMCA and enjoyed Tuesday Salad Days with the girls from the YMCA. Evelyn and her husband, Arthur A. Reed, Jr., celebrated sixty years of marriage in October 2017 and enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing, shopping, and dining with friends. She was always kind and thoughtful of others and especially enjoyed being with her family.

Evelyn and Art resided in Flemington for forty-six years and had formerly resided in Whitehouse Station, NJ and Allerton, NJ.

Evelyn was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Walker, in 2012, and also by her two brothers, Allan and Douglas Berstler and her five sisters, Marjorie Berstler, Louise Seiger, Hope Moeller, Vera Pasarela, and Dorothy Hall.

Surviving are her husband of over sixty years, Arthur A. Reed, Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Matthew Clark of Limestone, TN. and Bonnie and Mark Hanna of Flemington, NJ; two sisters, Marietta Cahill of Manville, NJ and Marilyn Walker of Abbeville, SC; a brother, George Berstler of Wells, ME; a son-in-law, Steve Walker of Hillsborough, NJ; twenty-three nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Lebanon, NJ. Calling hours will be Monday 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
