Florence Kautz, “Flo”, age 74 years, of Whitehouse Station, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, December 14, 2019 in Raritan Township, NJ.
Florence was born in Brooklyn, NY, September 7, 1945, daughter of the late Thomas F. and Mary Primivera Madden. She had formerly resided in Brooklyn, NY and Maplewood, NJ.
Earlier in her life, Florence worked in the banking industry where she met her husband John. In her later years, she was a devoted teacher’s aide at The Midland School in Branchburg, NJ., where she found her passion which was working with and caring for children.
Everyone that knew Florence remembered her for her larger than life personality. She was funny, friendly, warm and always giving. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, none more so than with her husband, John. Some of their favorite activities together were going down to the shore, heading to the theater, dining out and traveling.
She had a love of all animals, especially her cat Sandy, and was always a large supporter of local animal shelters. In addition, Flo had a love of history and travel that took her to many places and fostered an enjoyment of all aspects of life.
She was predeceased by her husband, of forty years, John C. Kautz in 2011 and her brother, Thomas Madden in 1986.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Matthew Burgey of Whitehouse Station, NJ; one son, Stephen Kautz of Phillipsburg, NJ; two sisters, Cathy Lang of Guilford, CT and Ann Marie Gonzalez of Kingwood, TX and two granddaughters, Kelsey and Alexandra Burgey.
A private graveside service will be held in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
