Frances M. Gillette

Frances M. Gillette, age 86, a long-time resident of Flemington and recently of Hillsborough, NJ, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Foothill Acres Nursing Home in Hillsborough. Born June 18, 1928, in Syracuse, NY, she missed her 87th birthday by four days. Fran was the daughter of the late John and Ethel (Ross) Martin. When Ethel passed away early in Fran’s life, her father remarried, Bernadine, who became the loving mother to Fran and her brother, John. Fran had a career in dental chairside and office management for over 45 years and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for over 60 years. She had been a lifelong Episcopalian and belonged to the congregations of Holy Cross in North Plainfield and Cavalry Episcopal in Flemington. A talented pianist, she was a member of the Calvary choir for many years. She taught nursery school in both churches and was a member of the altar guild. Predeceased by her parents and her brother, John Martin, Fran is survived by her husband of 64 years, Glynn Gillette of Hillsborough, her daughter, Janet and husband Timothy, her son, Bruce and wife Debbie, her sister Dorothy Milne, her brother, Lewis Martin, her sister-in-law, Ethel Gillette, granddaughters, Heather Gillette, Laura and her husband Jeff Taylor, and grandson, Ryan Gillette, as well as her six nephews, four nieces, and many more family members. Cremation was private under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington. A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Calvary Episcopal Church, 44 Broad Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment of the cremated remains will follow in the garden adjacent to the church.
