Frank H. Dreher, Jr., age 92 years, formerly of Elmer, NJ, died on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, September 21, 1923, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Dougherty Dreher.
Mr. Dreher worked for many years in the Sears Optical Department. After his retirement, he served as a healing minister, visiting and providing comfort to those in the hospital and at nursing facilities.
Mr. Dreher was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving as a tank gunner in New Guinea and Luzon. For his meritorious service, he was awarded three Bronze Stars and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Technician 4th Grade.
He was predeceased by his wife of fifty years, Kathryn M. Heinrich Dreher, and a brother. Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Judy Dreher III of Raritan Township, NJ, and George and Lisa Dreher of Waretown, NJ; and three grandchildren: Matthew, Jake, and Roger Dreher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 10 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Lawnside Cemetery, Pilesgrove, NJ. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 7-9 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dominican Sisters of Divine Providence, 25 Harmony School Road, Flemington, NJ 08822.
