Frank J. Taranto, age 90 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at his home.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, September 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Frank and Phyllis Fiore Taranto. He had resided in Raritan Township since 1972.
Mr. Taranto was a graduate of Purdue University and was a Chemical Engineer for Mobil Oil Technical Services Lab, working in the Research and Development of Crude products.
He was a Communicant of St. Magdalen Church, former member of Flemington Elks Lodge #1928, the Italian American Club, and The Socialites group for retired Mobil employees. He loved playing Bocce and Pinochle.
Frank was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950-1952.
He was predeceased by his wife of sixty years, Angela Marie Taranto, in 2013. He was also predeceased by his sister, Mae Nolan, in 2017. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Frank Joseph and Mary Jean Taranto of Fairfield, NJ; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa Marie Giles-Gross and Perry Gross of Raritan Township, NJ; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Kelly Simerson Taranto of Bozeman, MT; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Marianne Taranto of Ringoes, NJ; eleven grandchildren: Daniel Philip Giles, Mathew David Giles, Frank Joseph Taranto III, Tiffany Marie Giles-McCormick, Michael Henri Taranto, Nicole Danielle Taranto, Elizabeth Kate Taranto, Kyle Timothy Taranto, Matthew Gregorio Taranto, Thomas Michael Taranto, and Randi Faith Taranto; and his eleven great-grandchildren: Kathryn Melissa Giles, William Daniel Giles, Madelyn Marie Giles, Genevieve Giles, Julia Giles, Michael Giles, Angela Marie Giles-McCormick, Lily Giles-McCormick, Olivia Taranto, Alexis Taranto, and Gabriella Taranto.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street Flemington, NJ. Inurnment with full military honors will be private in St. Magdalen Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There are no calling hours.
