Frank Soltys, age 95 years, of Cherryville, NJ, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at his home. Born on his family’s farm in Cherryville on August 25, 1923, son of the late Vincent and Victoria Gozelnik Soltys, he had resided in the Cherryville area all his life.
Frank was a ground foreman for the State of New Jersey at Spruce Run Reservoir until retiring.
A United States Army veteran of World War II, Frank was an infantryman serving in Europe and lost a foot as a result of wounds received in Germany. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his valorous service.
Frank was a member of Chapter 27, Military Order of the Purple Heart of Somerville, NJ; the Flemington American Legion Post #159 and the Disabled American Veterans. An avid gardener, he enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers which he constantly gave to his neighbors and friends.
The last of eleven siblings, he is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Eleanor Zemanek Soltys.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:30 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment with full military honors will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ.
