Fred A. Blackman, age 87 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Monday, September 10, 2018 at Independence Manor, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Summit, NJ, June 1, 1931, son of the late Fred J. and Harriett E. Palmer Blackman, he had formerly resided in Westfield, NJ and East Amwell Township, NJ.
A United States Navy Veteran, Fred was a check flight engineer and a check flight instructor for Flying Tigers and Federal Express. A member of Westfield Rescue Squad and East Amwell Rescue Squad, he had a passion for helping and caring for people in a time of need.
Fred is pre-deceased by his wife Helma Erna Blackman in 2012, and a daughter Lynda Ann Blackman in 2004.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, William and Jacalyn Blackman of Raritan Township, NJ, and two grandchildren, William Robert Blackman, Jr. and Madeline Blackman both of Raritan Township, NJ.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 9:30 AM in the Lebanon Reformed Church, 100 Brunswick Avenue, Lebanon, NJ. Interment will follow in Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours.
