Fred O. Rynearson, Sr.

March 25, 1923 — January 30, 2021

Fred O. Rynearson, Sr. of East Amwell Township, NJ passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021, at age 97.

Fred was born on March 25, 1923 in Ringoes, NJ to Clarence Rynearson and Rita Gordon-Rynearson. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen D. Rynearson and his siblings, John Rynearson and Davena Connard. Surviving him are his two sons, Fred O. Rynearson, Jr. of Flemington, NJ and Barry Rynearson, Sr. of Ringoes, NJ; four grandchildren, Lisa, Barry, Jr., Kelly and Michelle; and four great grandchildren, Taylor, Katelyn, Ryan and Ava.

Fred attended Flemington High School and graduated in 1940. After graduating, Fred went on to work at DeLaval for decades as a maintenance supervisor and eventually retired to run his own farm and machine shop on Rynearson Rd. Stockton, NJ.

Fred was also a farmer who was well-known in the farming community throughout his life. In 2009, Fred and his late father, Clarence, were inducted into the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead Museum honor roll of distinguished farmers.

While Fred continued to reside in Hunterdon County most of his life, he was still well traveled. From hunting in Wyoming to exploring the Middle East pyramids, he saw a great deal of the world in his 97 years.

In addition to being President of the West Jersey Snowmobile Club, Fred was a farmer, a master machinist, a tool and die maker, a hunter, a fisherman, a die-hard NASCAR fan, and an avid reader. But, more importantly, Fred was a son, a brother, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather, and a friend. These are the roles he played in life that will ensure that his legacy continues to live on.

Arrangements will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, Fred’s family requests that any contributions be made to the Amwell Valley Fire Company, PO Box 76, Ringoes NJ 08551, the Amwell Valley Rescue Squad, PO Box 147, Ringoes, NJ 08551 or the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead Museum1605 Daniel Bray Parkway, Lambertville, NJ 08530.
