Frederick A. Braun, age 90 years, of Clinton Township, NJ, died Monday, February 22, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Milford, NJ, August 23, 1930, son of the late Fred Braun, Jr. and Marion Kinney Braun, he is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Flick Braun. They were married sixty-three years.
He was a graduate of Clinton High School and Rutgers University College of Agriculture with a BS and MS degree. He taught Agriculture and Cooperative Industrial Education for thirty-eight years in Flemington High School and Hunterdon Central Regional High School, retiring in 1990.
His students won FFA Livestock, Poultry, Dairy and Land Judging competitions in NJ agriculture and participated in national competitions in Kansas City, MO and Waterloo, IA.
Fred won first place in the Hoard’s Dairyman Magazine Dairy Cattle Judging contest and was also one of the VICA advisors at Hunterdon Central High School.
Fred was a member and Sunday School Teacher at Flemington Baptist Church. He also served as scoutmaster of Troop 62 of Boy Scouts of America for ten years and was a life member of NJEA, NEA and the American Vocational Association.
In addition, Fred was a sixty-seven year member and Past Master of Stewart and Host Lodges, F&AM.
He was pre-deceased by a son, David Braun; a sister, Doris Reper Orlowski and a brother, Dr. R. Kenneth Braun.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Audrey, are three children, Denise Braun of Branchburg, NJ, Diane (Bill) Kuhlman of Cookeville, TN, Brian Braun of Livingston, TN; daughter-in-law, Joanne Braun; seven grandchildren, Katie (Rob) Hanley, Heather (Chris) Dietz, William (Kellie) Apsley, Ricky Braun, Natalie (Carl) Baus, Colin Braun and Couper (Taylor) Braun; a brother, Richard (Lucy) Braun and a sister, Kathryn (Bucky) Smith. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Dale (Barbara) Flick, two sisters-in-law, Liz Braun and Sandy Green and many nieces and nephews.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, teacher, mentor, and faithful servant of God. He was much loved and will be missed by all of us.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and bowling.
Memorial services will be held Friday, February 26, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington. Calling hours will be Friday 12 Noon-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
