Flemington, NJ

Frederick "Fred" Campbell, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, in Flemington, New Jersey. Born on April 19, 1935, in Glasgow, Scotland, Fred’s journey through life was marked by hard work, dedication, and a loving spirit that touched the hearts of many.

Fred was a man of many talents and a varied career. He was the prior owner of a boat repair business in Florida and had also served as a partner in Hellertown Sporting Goods. His professional life included over 35  years as a Machinist at Johnson & Johnson - Ethicon, where he was known for his strong work ethic. He demonstrated an unwavering commitment to everything he undertook.

Fred's military service in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 stationed him in Germany.  Before his military service he married the former, Matilda "Tillie" Sabol, meeting while they both had worked at the Shawnee Inn in the Poconos. Their love blossomed, leading to a beautiful marriage which lasted nearly 68 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories.

As a father, Fred was incredibly proud of his four children, Fred Campbell II (Pam), Christine Campbell-Tuttle, Bruce Campbell (Kim), and the late Douglas Campbell, his eight grandchildren, Rebekah Campbell-Samples (Spouse Zeke), Priscilla Campbell, Elya Campbell-Costello (spouse Will), Tabitha Campbell-Stogner (spouse Matt), Cory Campbell (spouse Amber), Nicole Campbell-Duffield (spouse Bryn), Jaclyn Campbell-Walak (spouse Charles), and Aidan Tuttle, as well as his eight great-grandchildren, Natalia, Myliana, Nicholas, Wyatt, Abby, Sage, Lily, and Eli.  He found immense joy in their accomplishments, guiding them with wisdom and encouragement. Fred shared a unique bond with his only sibling, Jimmy, an older brother who had moved to Australia and had 12 children, showcasing the deep family ties that meant so much to him.

In his leisure time, Fred was not just a hardworking individual but also a profoundly creative one. He was a talented artist, producing beautiful drawings in pencil and charcoal that reflected his keen eye for detail.  He found joy in music too, playing the bongo drums, singing and often whistling around the house.

His involvement in the community extended to his role as the head soccer coach for the Dunham Devils soccer team in Flemington, NJ. Fred took pride in nurturing young athletes and instilling in them the values of teamwork and perseverance. He was also a savvy real estate investor, owning multiple rental properties throughout the years, an endeavor that showcased his entrepreneurial spirit.

Though Fred is preceded in death by his mother, Winifred Campbell and his son, Douglas Campbell, his memories live on through his family and friends who are forever grateful for the time shared with him. His legacy of hard work, creativity, and love for his family will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew him. Fred Campbell will be dearly missed, but his spirit will remain a guiding light in the lives of his loved ones.
