Garwood G. Strimple, age 83 years, of Franklin Township, NJ (Hunterdon County), died on Thursday, April 22, 2004 at his residence.
Born December 30, 1920 in Jersey City, NJ to the late George Abbott and Elsie Bley Strimple, he had lived in Franklin Township for the past 2 years, previously residing in Readington Township, NJ since 1928.
During World War II, Mr. Strimple served as a Merchant Marine in the South Pacific. Following the war, he returned and worked on the Strimple Poultry Farm in Pleasant Run, Readington Township, NJ for many years. Additionally, Mr. Strimple worked for 25 years at Western Electric, Kearny, NJ, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the Stanton Reformed Church, Stanton, NJ since 1930.
His gentle spirit will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Edna Naticzak Strimple; his two daughters, Garnett Strimple of Somerset, NJ and Mary Ann and husband Bob Bowden of Franklin Township, NJ; his sisters, Evelyn Hall of Three Bridges, NJ and Bernice Storr of Flemington, NJ; and his brother, Clifford Strimple of Burlington, NC.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2004 in the Stanton Reformed Church, Stanton, NJ. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Oxford, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
