George Carman Vocke

George Carman Vocke, age 62 years, of Sergeantsville, NJ, died on Monday, February 15, 2016 at his home. Born in Raritan Township, NJ, October 19, 1953, he was the son of the late George and Martha Larison Vocke. He was a lifelong resident of Delaware Township, NJ. Carman was a home contractor; a member of the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead Museum; original member of the Great Crate Race in Delaware Township, and a former Board Member of the DTMUA. Mr. Vocke served as the lead construction manager for building several bridges entirely out of recycled plastics (except for fasteners,) in conjunction with Rutgers University and two companies- Axion international and Sicut. Among the projects, he assisted with the first two tank bridges at Fort Bragg, NC that was designed and tested to support 70 ton tanks, and also assisted and led the Scottish military in building the first 3 span, 90 foot road bridge made from recycled plastic (over the river Tweed) in Europe. Surviving are his wife of forty-one years, Laurie Lee Cacacie Vocke; his sons, Brian Vocke of Ewing, NJ, and Phillip Vocke of Baptistown, NJ; and his granddaughter, Emelia Vocke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 9 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Sandy Ridge Cemetery, Delaware Township, NJ.
