George N. Foster, Attorney, age 101 years, of Clinton, NJ, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at his residence.
Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Frank and Theresa Milford Floster. He graduated from St. Benedict's Prep, where he attended on a full scholarship. He was a graduate of Rutgers University and Rutgers Law School.
He practiced law in Union, NJ for forty-six years, retiring in 1991 at age 83.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, and was stationed at Fort Monmouth, NJ.
He was a member and former secretary of the Elks Lodge, Union, NJ, and was a member of the American Legion and the Connecticut Farms Church of Union, NJ.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Pauline Conner Foster whom he met at the root beer stand in Olympic Park, Irvington, NJ and married December 13, 1941. He was the devoted father of Patrice Sharp and her husband, Jack, of New Jersey, Kathy Denyse and her husband, Dennis, of New Jersey, and Alice Mayfield and her husband, Robb, of Colorado. He was the loving grandfather of Douglas Sharp and his wife, Monica, of New Jersey, Brian Sharp and his wife, Carrie, of North Carolina, Lynn Brown and her husband, Keith, of California, and Donald Halliday of Pennsylvania. He was the proud great-grandfather of Benjamin and Stephanie Sharp, Fiona and Lila Sharp, and Eric and Jayden Brown. He was a mentor to all who loved him, and he will be greatly missed.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Graveside services and interment will be private.
