George Robert Stietz, age 88 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at his residence.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, June 12, 1922, he was the son of the late Howard George and Laura Agnes Jacobs Stietz. He had formerly resided in Fair Lawn, NJ for many years.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Matt Talbot Retreat Group #8.
He was employed for many years as a diamond assorter with A & J Feinberg, New York City.
He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Ellen Stietz and two brothers, Howard and Robert Stietz. Surviving are his wife of sixty-seven years, Beatrice Marie Thornley Stietz; three daughters, Carol Stietz Haussmann and her husband John of San Ramon, CA, Gail Stietz of Three Bridges, NJ, and Pamela Stietz Goldenberg and her husband Jim of Doylestown, NJ; a son, George W. Stietz of Flemington, NJ; five grandchildren: Michele Haussmann, Christopher Haussmann, Sara Goldenberg, Emily Goldenberg, and Rachel Goldenberg; and a sister, Carolyn Stietz Berardi and her husband Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
