Georgianna Hale Dana

Georgianna “Georgie” Hale Dana, aged 95, long-time resident of Hinsdale, MA, died Sunday, May 5, 2024, in New Jersey.

Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education at Wheelock College and spent some time teaching students at the Brearley School in New York City.

A feisty and generous lady with an appetite for golf had her playing the game well into her 90’s. She loved sailing with her family off the Connecticut coast in the Danamite. Her passion, however, was raising her four loving children in Hartford, CT, before eventually retiring lakeside in Hinsdale, MA. After her children had grown, she dedicated her time to the Pittsfield Humane Society and the Elizabeth Freeman Center, providing help to survivors of domestic violence.

She is predeceased by her parents, Filmore Hale of Forsyth, NC and Ruth Steed of Hartford, CT.

She is survived by her loving children; Benson, Amy, Susie, and Christopher; six grandchildren, who knew her as “Gran-G”, Jonathan, Giana, Katie, Lindsay, William and Amalia; and four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, William and Alec.

Cremation services will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
