Gerald J. Haines

July 15, 1952 — May 16, 2022

Gerald J. Haines, age 69, died Monday, May 16, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Easton PA. Born July 15, 1952 in Philipsburg PA, Jerry was the son of the late Wesley Jacob and Lorna Jean (Henderson) Haines. He was raised in central Pennsylvania before moving to Somerville NJ, Flemington NJ, and finally back to Pennsylvania since 2000. Jerry served his country in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division until being discharged after his parachute did not deploy successfully. He was a factory worker in Flemington with the former Rexham Corporation and Hargro Flexible Packaging for many years, and also worked at the Flemington Speedway as well. Jerry loved anything outdoors – camping and fishing were some of his favorite pastimes, as well as attending football games where the Moshannon Valley High School (PA) team played, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State Nittany Lions. He was an outgoing person, loved singing karaoke, watching a good NASCAR race, and faithfully attended church services at New Hope Christian Fellowship Church in Hautzdale PA. One of his favorite things to do was go out to eat, especially good buffet-style fare. Jerry enjoyed going to many flea markets, including Englishtown and Columbus Flea Markets in New Jersey and Q-Mart in Quakertown PA. He was always asking his family to save the “Ad Bargains” (as he used to call them) for his perusal. Most of all, he loved spending time with his eleven grandchildren – attending many football games and cheerleading events throughout the years. In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte in 2003, his sister, Doris in 2021, and his infant sister, Patricia, many years ago. He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia Quintana of Easton PA, and Corrina Vasquez of Phillipsburg NJ, his three step-children, Michael Malherbe, Bobby Malherbe, and John Malherbe and his wife, Kristy, as well as his two brothers, Ralph Haines and Donald Haines, and his two sisters, Sandra Slack and Norma Weaver. Also surviving are his eleven grandchildren, Anthony, Jazlyn, Brittany, Abigail, Alyssa, Haylyn, Natalee, Aliah, Emily, Christian and Lila, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Xavier and Aubrianna. A memorial service for Jerry will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Old York Road in Ringoes NJ. Calling hour will be Tuesday from 1:00 until the time of service at the funeral home.
