Gerald L. Compton, age 96 years, of San Antonio, TX., died Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Pinestone Place Assisted living, San Antonio.
Born in Delaware Township, NJ, November 26, 1919, son of the late Howard and Estella Cline Compton, he had formerly resided in Flemington, NJ for many years and then in Murrell's Inlet, SC 1981-2004.
Gerry was a US Navy Seabee during World War 2 and participated in the D-Day Invasion and also the Invasion of Okinawa.
He retired from the Wm. Stothoff Co., Flemington, NJ in 1981.
His wife, Norma Houck Compton, died in 2006.
Surviving are three children, Kathleen Buchholz, Dennis Compton and Barry Compton; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment with military honors will be in Frenchtown Cemetery, Frenchtown, NJ.
