It is with great sadness that the family of Geraldine (Geri) M. Marty announces her passing after a long and courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the age of 77.
She was born in Elizabeth, NJ on October 18, 1940, the daughter of Ann. E. Cavanaugh (nee' Altman) and Thomas Patrick Cavanaugh.
Geri is survived by her daughter Lisa Marty-Panfile, her son-in-law Ned Panfile, her grandchildren Elizabeth and Rob Panfile of Mendham, NJ, her niece Kathleen Dorosiewicz and nephew Mark Servera of NC, her beloved and devoted partner, Ralph Della Badia Sr. of Sergeantsville, NJ, his children, Cathe Della Badia of Sergeantsville, Ralph Della Badia Jr. and his wife Kelley of Frenchtown, NJ, Renee Azelby and her husband Thomas Azelby, of Riverton, NJ , and his grandchildren Thomas Della Badia, Catherine Azelby, Thomas Azelby Jr., and Theresa Azelby.
Her parents, and sisters, Joan Servera and Ann Harzula, of NC, predeceased her.
A resident of Kingwood Township for over 50 years, Geri loved the beautiful country setting of her home and treasured her horses, dogs and cats frequently rescuing the occasional lost cat that ended up at her door. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the earth, was an avid bird watcher, loved gardening and enjoyed cooking. Geri retired from the Hunterdon Development Center after 20 years of service. She was dedicated to her work and loved the people she served.
Geri 's family, extended family, and many friends stood lovingly by her side during her illness. A smile and positive attitude were her compass. She will be greatly missed and cherished always.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 22, 2017 at Our Lady of Victories Church, 1005 County Road 519, Baptistown, NJ 08803. Interment will be private on Saturday at Hilltop Cemetery in Mendham NJ. Calling hours will be Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
