Gertrude "Trudy" Rubin Touitou, age 86 years, of Clinton Township, NJ, died on Friday, April 28, 2006 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ.
Born in Mannheim, Germany, February 4, 1920, she had resided in Clinton Township the past three years, having previously lived in New Milford, NJ for over forty years, and Israel for fifteen years.
Ms. Touitou worked over thirty years for the Sachler family of Englewood Cliffs, NJ, serving not only as a caretaker, but also as a surrogate grandmother and friend.
A Survivor of the Holocaust, Ms. Touitou spent three years in a Nazi Concentration Camp, from which she escaped and then spent the remainder of the War in hiding with the assistance of the French Underground. She was the sole survivor of her entire family, all of whom perished in Auschwitz.
An avid swimmer, she spent five days a week swimming at the YMCA-Deer Path Park in Readington Township, NJ.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Rubin of Highland Lakes, NJ and John Touitou of Hollywood, FL; two daughters, Rachel Willen of Clinton Township, NJ and Danielle Goral of Clinton, NJ; eight grandchildren; and her cat, Minush.
Funeral Services will take place Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
