Gladys R. Weiss

Gladys R. Weiss, age 97 years, of Pittstown, NJ, died on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ. Born in Hoboken, NJ, January 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Crozier Housman. She had formerly resided in Flemington, NJ most of her life. Gladys was a homemaker, and at one time worked at Dural Rubber Company in Flemington. She was a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church since 1952, and served there as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, and Vacation Bible School teacher; and was a member of the Women’s Association of the church. A former Cub Scout Den Mother, and Brownie Scout Leader, and member of the Flemington Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, ands Flemington VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Gladys served her community in many ways. Gladys enjoyed camping and gardening, and always had a house full of flowers. Her husband of fifty-nine years, Herman (Jeff) Weiss died in 2003 and she was pre-deceased by several siblings as well. Surviving are her son, Wayne R. Weiss and his wife, Sandy L. Becker Weiss, of Pittstown, NJ; her daughter, Shirley A. Burd and her husband, Kim Burd, of Califon, NJ; she is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacqueline L. Krejdovski and her husband, Barry W. Krejdovski, Jr. and their children: Allison L. Krejdovski, Kyle A. Krejdovski, and Kaitlyn L. Krejdovski, all of Frenchtown, NJ; Rebecca L. Griffith and her husband, Ian D. Griffith, and their son, Benjamin R. Griffith (who shares his great grandmother’s birthday) of Flemington, NJ; and Keith D. Weiss and his wife, Stacey A. Weiss, and their children: Tyler B. Weiss, and Emerson S. Weiss of Flemington, NJ; and William Thomas Pitchford and his wife Michelle Pitchford, of Flemington, NJ; two sisters, Sara (Dolly) Buck of Bethlehem, PA, and Margaret Pitbladdo Hershey, of Flemington, NJ; and twenty-four nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11 AM in the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 6-8 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
