Glenn Hooper, age 87 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died Sunday, September 3, 2017, at his home.
Born in Irvington, NJ, November 25, 1929, son of the late Cecil and Hazel Dombrowsky Hooper, he had resided in the Flemington area seventy years.
Glenn was a 1947 graduate of Flemington High School and a 1959 graduate of Rutgers University.
A chemist, Glenn was a sales manager with American Cyanamid Corp. for many years until retiring. He served in the New Jersey National Guard and in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a member and Elder of the Flemington Presbyterian Church where he was also the church historian and the author of books and numerous articles about the church. An avid historian and gardener, he was a member of the Hunterdon County Historical Society and was a Past President of Hunterdon Hospice, where he formerly served on it's board for many years.
His first wife, Phyllis Sokol Hooper, died in 2009, a son, Peter Hooper died in 1992, and a grandson, Thomas Hooper, died in 2000. Glenn was also pre-deceased by his sister, Dolores.
Surviving are his wife, Emma Freiberger Hooper; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and John Gwiazda of Greenport, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn Thomas and Patricia Hooper of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren, Megan Hooper-Pratt, Emilie Pridgen, Katherine Robertson, and Peter John Gwiazda; two great grandchildren, Tanner Perryman and Paul Thomas Pridgen; and two brothers, Ned Hooper of Greensboro, NC and Neil Hooper of Randolph, NJ.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the Flemington Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Flemington, NJ followed by burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday 7:00-9:00 PM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
