Dr. Glenn P. Lambert, MD, a pillar of the Hunterdon medical community and a cherished resident of Hunterdon County NJ, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on January 1, 2024, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was beloved by his wife of 63 years (Ginger) and his four children and their families. Born in Somerville, NJ on March 29, 1934, he was the son of the late Prall Lambert and Elizabeth Drake Lambert. He was a native of Hunterdon County, NJ growing up in Annandale and residing in Flemington from 1966 to 2021.
Glenn was a member of the first graduating class of North Hunterdon High School in 1952. He was a standout student athlete who excelled at three sports and was elected to the NHHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Glenn also served as the Class President.
Glenn attended Albright College in Reading, PA, where he earned a BS in Biology and Pre-Med. It was at Albright College that he met the love of his life, Nora "Ginger" Lloyd, whom he married in 1960. Glenn pursued a career in medicine after completing medical school at Seton Hall University College of Medicine in NJ, and his residency in Pediatrics & Family Practice at Baltimore City Hospital, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins, in 1965. He also served two years of active duty in the US Air Force in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Settling in Flemington in 1966, Glenn became one of two pediatricians in the entire county. A founding member of Hunterdon Pediatric Associates, he also served as the Medical Director of Hunterdon Medical Center for nearly 15 years. He passionately advocated for the Hunterdon Medical Center model of community medicine, leaving an indelible mark on the healthcare landscape.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Glenn was a lifelong active member of numerous medical associations, including the American Medical Association, the NJ Medical Society, and the Hunterdon County Medical Society, where he twice served as president. He was also dedicated to the American Academy of Pediatrics and served as a longtime board member of the Hunterdon Developmental Center. A 25-year member and former president of the Hunterdon County YMCA, Glenn believed in the power of community involvement.
His commitment to the local community extended to the Flemington Presbyterian Church, where he served as a former elder and deacon. Glenn's generosity of spirit and dedication to others earned him the affection and respect of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many, Glenn found joy in golf, gardening, crossword puzzles, naughty jokes, reading books, the Jersey shore and outdoor pursuits, including hunting, fishing, and canoeing on the Delaware and Raritan rivers. Preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Sherrerd, Dr. Lambert is survived by his loving wife (Nora "Ginger" Lambert), four children (Todd, Stephen, Beth Ann Dinowitz, David) and their spouses and his eight grandchildren (Jack, Scott, Ryann, Hayden, Robby, Zachary, Leo and Wesley).
