Glenna Ann Simpson

Glenna Ann Simpson, age 85 years of Hillsborough, NJ, died November 5, 2017, at Brookdale Assisted Living, Hillsborough, NJ. Born April 15, 1932 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Frances (Roulston) Reddish. She had resided in Hillsborough Township, NJ for the past forty-nine years. Glenna graduated in 1949 from Melrose, MA high school and after completing studies at the Pierce Business School in Boston, she worked as a legal secretary in various law firms. In addition to being a homemaker she later worked as secretary for the Hillsborough Twp. Public Works director. She was an active volunteer with various organizations. She was a member of the Neshanic Reformed Church, past president of the Women’s Guild, a long time member and officer of the Neshanic Garden Club, and Hillsborough Band Parents Association member. Glenna enjoyed cooking, entertaining, knitting, watching baseball (Boston Red Sox), football and golf. She especially liked corresponding with family, friends and new pen pals. She was very proud of her New England heritage. Glenna’s amazing memory and warm, caring nature are traits that will be deeply missed by family and friends alike. She was pre-deceased by her brother Robert Reddish in 2008 and her sister Suzanne Sherman in 2013. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Robert W. Simpson; and 4 children: Sandra Simpson and husband Ken Misiak of Hillsborough NJ, Wendy Marton and husband Jacques of South Burlington VT, Peter Simpson and wife Connie of Oscoda MI, and Geoffrey Simpson and wife Vickie of Perkasie PA. She also leaves six cherished grandchildren, Claire and Hannah Marton, Matthew, Emily, Andrew, and Michael Simpson. Plans for a celebration of Glenna’s life will be announced at a later date and time under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to New Jersey Conservation Foundation, 170 Longview Rd, Far Hills NJ 07931 or The Seeing Eye, P.O. Box 375, Morristown NJ 07963.
