Gloria J. Lazor, age 83 years, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at her home.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Bodendorf Jorgensen. She formerly resided in Annandale, NJ, Bloomsbury, NJ, Sanibel, Florida, and Fort Myers, Florida.
Gloria was a 1950 graduate of St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.
After graduation, Gloria was a reporter for the Chicago Tribune. After moving to NJ and raising four children, she worked as director of the Red Mill Museum, Clinton, NJ, and also as Public Relations Officer of the New Jersey State Museum, Trenton, NJ. After retiring she and her late husband,John, owned and operated Flemington Floral Co. and Greenhouses with their daughter, Martha Lazor.
After moving to Florida, Gloria volunteered for a local soup kitchen, Hospice and Health Park Hospital in Ft. Myers.
Her husband of forty-four years, John Lazor, died in 1996.
Surviving are four children Sue Wilson (Don), Charlotte, NC, Jan Day(Steve), Hobe Sound, FL. John J. Lazor of Charlotte, NC and Martha Lazor of Ringoes, NJ; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Ryan and Katelyn and one great granddaughter, Sienna.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Whitebridge Road, Pittstown, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, North Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home.
