Grace E.B. Petersen

Grace E.B. Petersen, age 89 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, in Delaware Township, NJ.

Born in Clinton Township, NJ, November 1, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Alvah and Edith Alvater Bird.

She was a 1935 graduate of Flemington High School, and a 1939 graduate of Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia, PA. She was a registered nurse at Atlantic City Hospital, Mercer Hospital, and then Hunterdon Medical Center, retiting in 1978.

She was a volunteer at the Hunterdon Medical Center and with the Hunterdon County Office on Aging and Senior Health Services where she assisted with health screenings for seniors for over twenty years.

She was a member of Old Rocks Church, West Amwell Township, NJ, the Old Whitehouse General Frelinghuyson Chapter of the D.A.R. where she was regent from 1998-2001, a member of the NJ Nurses Association, and the Delhigh Power Squadron Boat Club.

Her husband, Robert Petersen, died in 1992. Surviving are two nieces, Susan K. Bird of Springfield, NJ, and Sallie P. Gibson of Largo, FL; a nephew, William J. Bird of Aurora, CO; two great nephews, and her dear friend, George Kusant of Delaware Township, NJ.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 2 PM in Old Rocks Church, Mt. Airy-Harbourton Road, West Amwell Township, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 1-2 PM in the church.
