Grace Gonzalez

Grace Gonzalez, age 97 years, of Flemington, NJ, died June 9, 2019, at Country Arch Care Center, Pittstown, NJ.

Grace was born April 27, 1922, in Brooklyn, NY., daughter of Daniel J. Collins and Elizabeth Cummins Collins and sister to Ella and Betty Collins. In 1941, Grace graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School, Brooklyn, NY and worked in banking in New York City. In 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, Henry Gonzalez, who at that time was serving in the United States Army Air Corps. He pre-deceased her in 2003. Together, they had four children, Joan (Richard Fecht), Paul (Nancy), Lynn (Rich Luster), and Jeffrey (Carolyn), ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

As a devoted mother, Grace was active in Boy Scouts as a Den Mother, The Solidarity of the Blessed Virgin at St. Gerard Majella Church, Hollis, NY, and following her move to Flemington, NJ in 1963 was active in the Flemington-Raritan PTA.

In 1973, Grace joined Town & Country Bank of Flemington as a bookkeeper and worked there until her retirement. She will be remembered for her devotion to family and her kindness to all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 10:30AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Monday, June 17, 2019, 6:00-8:00PM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
