Grace J. Famula

Grace J. Famula, age 88 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Monday, June 26, 2017 at her home in the loving embrace of her daughter and son in law. Born in Newark, NJ, January 31, 1929, Grace was the youngest daughter of the late Biagio and Josephine Macaluso Lecaro. She had formerly resided in Union, NJ and Mountainside, NJ before moving to Raritan Township 8 years ago. In the early years, Grace worked for the NJ Safety Council in Newark, and later enjoyed her dream job as an executive secretary, for the Venet Advertising Agency, located in NYC and in Union, NJ. Later in her work life, she enjoyed her job as a real estate secretary for the Alan Johnston Co. In Westfield, NJ. While it wasn't common for women to work outside the home in the late 60's, Grace managed the perfect balance of career woman, wife, mother and homemaker. She was the quintessential hostess and created a loving home where all who stepped inside felt welcomed. Family, friends and visitors to the Famula home enjoyed Grace's baking skills, as there was always something home made offered to guests and the coffee pot was always on. Her signature apple or lemon meringue pie were her favorite treats to bake for special occasions, and her cookie baking creativity continued even into her late eighties, as she baked all the cookies for the B&B that her daughter and son in law owned. Grace is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of sixty-three years, John A. Famula; three sisters, Lucille Muscato, Florence LaRocco and Christina Vinciguerra. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ken Arold of Ringoes, NJ. Calling hours to honor Grace's memory will be Thursday, June 29 from 6-8:00 PM at Holcombe Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. A Memorial Mass officiated by Rev. Jarlath Quinn will be celebrated on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM in St. James Chapel, 8 Eglantine Avenue, Pennington, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home. Interment at a later date will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, NJ, and will be private. Memorial contributions in Grace’s name may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 or Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ.
