Gretta Rockafellow

Gretta M. (Cox) Rockafellow, age 89 years, of Frenchtown, NJ, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ.

Born in Readington, NJ, April 23, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Tunis V.M. and Anna King Cox. She had resided in Frenchtown, NJ since 1946.

A 1936 graduate of Flemington High School, she attended Trenton State Teacher's College. She owned and operated the Angell Insurance Agency in Flemington, NJ for many years. After selling the agency, she was employed by Young and Perry Insurance of Lebanon, NJ, then by Walter B. Howe Agency, of Princeton, NJ, and then by Schenberger-Flack Insurance of Frenchtown, NJ.

She was a member of the Frenchtown Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Presbyterian Women, and a former member of the church choir. She was a former member of the Flemington Board of Elections, the Frenchtown Board of Education, and the Frenchtown Womans Club.

Her husband, Frederick J. Rockafellow, died in 1990. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas F. and Janet Rockafellow, of Palmyra, VA; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean R. and Harry Manning of Lebanon Township, NJ; four grandchildren: Gretchen A. Rockafellow, D. Scott Rockafellow, Bryan Manning, and Allison Van Tassel; and three great grandsons: Alexander Rockafellow, Andrew Rockafellow, and Jeffrey Manning.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 2 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 12 Noon until 2 PM in the funeral home.
