Harold A. Barber, age 93 years, of Palmer Township, PA, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at his home.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, July 16, 1925, son of the late Harold and Edna Youngblood Barber, he formerly resided in Croton, NJ over twenty years and had resided in Palmer Township five years.
Harold was a Gas Distribution Specialist and Supervisor with Public Service Gas & Electric Co. in Jersey City and Newark, NJ for forty years before retiring.
A US Navy veteran of World War II, he served aboard a destroyer escort in the North Atlantic 1943-1945 and received the Bronze Star.
Harold was a member of Flemington VFW Post #7856; the Croton Rod & Gun Club and the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association.
His wife, Rosemary McMahon Barber, died in 1990 and a daughter, Ellen R. Daviau, died in 2008.
Surviving are two sons, Harold J. Barber of Allentown, PA. and Kenneth A. Barber and his wife, Linda, of Palmer Township, PA.; a daughter, Elyse Ann Barber of Hellertown, PA.; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 10:00 am in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment with military honors will follow in St. Bernard Mausoleum, Bridgewater, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday from 2:00-4:00 pm & 7:00-9:00 pm at the funeral home.
