Hazel V. Smith, age 89 years, formerly of Sergeantsville, NJ, died Saturday, January 18, 2014, in Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Washington, Wisconsin, January 4, 1925, daughter of the late Joseph and Laura Anderson Blodgett, she had resided in Delaware Township (Sergeantsville) for sixty-four years.
A seamtress, she was formerly employed by Wilson's Store, Sergeantsville, Stanley's Cleaners of Frenchtown, NJ, and also by Flemington Fur Co. Hazel also worked privately as a seamstress.
Hazel was a member of the Sergeantsville United Methodist Church; a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sergeantsville Fire Co.; and was formerly active in the Delaware Township PTA.
Her husband, LeRoy Smith, died in 2010.
Surviving are a son, Donald LeRoy Smith of Easton PA; two daughters, Brenda J. Stewart of Flemington, NJ, and Judy Lee Floyd of Sergeantsville, NJ; two brothers, Charles Blodgett of Lady Lake, FL. and Joseph Blodgett of Indiatlantic, FL; a sister, May Reasoner of Flemington, NJ; six grandchildren, Stacy Oakley, Frank Floyd, Derrick Smith, Danielle Smith, Angela Reilly and Joseph Floyd; nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 11:00AM in the Sergeantsville United Methodist Church, Sergeantsville, NJ, followed by interment in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Saturday 10:00-11:00AM AT THE CHURCH.
