Helen C. Carkhuff

Helen C. Carkhuff, age 90 years, of Murrells Inlet, SC, died on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at National Healthcare, Murrells Inlet, SC.

Born in Somerville, NJ, September 2, 1917, daughter of the late J.O. Van Fleet and Irene Madison Van Fleet, she had resided in South Carolina for the past year, having previously lived her entire life in Centerville, NJ.

She was a Bookeeper for many years at Carkhuff's Service Station, Readington Township, NJ.

Her husband, George L. Carkhuff, died in 1993.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Merle Stratton of Surfside Beach, SC; a brother, Harold Van Fleet of Flemington, NJ; a sister, Ruth Fairbanks of Perksie, PA; and a nephew, Paul Fairbanks in Texas.

Graveside Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Readington Cemetery, Readington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
