Herbert J. Gortler

Herbert J. Gortler, age 94 years, of Titusville, FL, formerly of Flemington, NJ, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Wuesthoff Hospice House, Rockledge, FL.

Born in Staten Island, NY, November 1, 1924, he was the son of the late William and Sophie Fleschner Gortler.

Mr. Gortler was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from the Staten Island Advance Newspaper after many years as a Stereotyper.

His wife Audrey Syversen Gortler, died in 2012. Surviving are a daughter, Kim Gortler, of Titusville, FL; a son, Mark Gortler, of Flemington, NJ; his four grandchildren: Amanda Bates, Grant Christofely, Erika Gortler and Craig Gortler; and his great-grandchildren: Audrey and Hudson Bates.

Graveside services will be held in Oceanview Cemetery, Staten Island, NY under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
