Herman G. Pfauth, age 86, died Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Palm Harbor FL.
Born June 13, 1935, in Somerville NJ, Herman was the son of the late Richard and Erica (Holzerland) Pfauth. He was raised in North Branch NJ and lived most of his life in Branchburg before moving to Readington Township two years ago. Herman’s family owned the Pfauth Poultry Farm in North Branch, where they raised mostly chickens and turkeys.
Herman was a persistent man and operated his own excavating business for many years beginning in 1954 in the Branchburg area. For many years, as a spectator, he would enjoy the former Flemington Speedway, take in a Daytona 500 or other NASCAR race, or attending various fairs in New Jersey and the Lancaster PA area.
For many years, Herman would take his family to the Jersey Shore, Island Beach State Park was a favorite, and there were annual trips to Florida to visit family. He enjoyed listening to Country & Western music and he and his wife, Audrey, would gather occasionally with friends to go line-dancing. Herman had an interest in draft horses, appreciating their size and strength.
He was a former Board member of the NJ Land Improvement Contractors Association and there were numerous trips to conventions throughout the country that he and Audrey attended for many years.
In addition to his parents, Herman was predeceased by his brother, Erwin Pfauth in 2022, and his grandsons, Jay Pfauth Jr. in 2015 and Cody Michael Moore in 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife, Audrey (Dowches) Pfauth, his daughter, Janice Moore of Flemington NJ, his son, Jay Pfauth Sr. and his wife Catherine of Flemington NJ, his four grandchildren, Danielle Pfauth, Amanda Henriksen and her husband, Jason, Justin Pfauth, and Brooke Betz and her husband, Michael, as well as his four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ember, Ryder, and Hayes, and his brother, Richard Pfauth of Lebanon NJ.
