FLEMINGTON - Hertha E. Barz, 93, died Monday at Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan.

Born in Berlin, Germany, she lived in Flemington since 1951.

She was a saleswoman for Barz Bakery and Goehrig's Bakery, both of Flemington, before retiring in 1980. She was a charter member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington, and its choir, Flemington-Raritan Senior Citizens and Hunterdon AARP.

Daughter of the late Alfred and Elisabeth Saling Oesterreich, wife of the late Kurt Barz, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Hannelore and Guenther Furczyk of Maywood; and a granddaughter, Amanda Furczyk of Allentown, Pa.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Burial will be in in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St.

Hertha E. Barz, 93, of Flemington died Monday, April 22, in Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township.

She was a saleswoman for Goehrig’s Bakery in Flemington, retiring in 1980. Before that, was a saleswoman for Barz Bakery in Flemington.

Born April 28, 1908, in Berlin, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Elisabeth Saling Oesterreich. She resided in Flemington since 1951.

She was a charter member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flemington, where she sang in the choir from 1955 to 1998.

She was a member of the Flemington-Raritan Senior Citizens and the Hunterdon Chapter of the AARP.

Her husband, Kurt, died in 1978.

She is survived by a daughter, Hannelore Furczyk of Maywood, N.J.; and a granddaughter.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church, 201 Highway 31, Flemington. Call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington.
