Irma Best passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, at All American Assisted Living in Hillsborough, NJ. She was born on July 9, 1924, in Elizabeth, NJ, and dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving others, notably as a high school secretary for Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School in Clark, NJ.
Irma was known for her warm personality and her enjoyment of being around people. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to many, reflecting her deep commitment to fostering connections. Outside of her professional achievements, Irma cherished her time spent playing mahjong at the Flemington Senior Center, where she formed lasting friendships and continued to engage with her community.
She leaves behind a loving family who will deeply miss her. Her daughter Joan DeCosimo and her husband Paul, along with daughter-in-law Mary Best, held her close to their hearts. Irma was a proud grandmother to Lauren DeCosimo, Christopher DeCosimo, Sarah Best, Brian Best, and Lukas Best, who will carry her memory forward. She was also a devoted great-grandmother to Eva, Quinn, Sawyer, Saylor and Lukas.
Irma joins her parents, Arendt Koos and Elsie Negele, in eternal rest, as well as her beloved son Thomas Best and sister Elinor Blore, who have preceded her in death. As her family grieves her loss, they celebrate her life and the indelible impact she made on those around her. Irma Best will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication, and the love she shared with those fortunate enough to know her.
Entombment will be held privately in Somerset Hills Memorial Park & Mausoleum, Basking Ridge, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
