Irving R. "Skip" Covert, age 93 years, of Neshanic Station, NJ, died on Monday, November 18, 2013, in the Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, NJ.
Born in Neshanic Station, NJ, May 23, 1920, he was the son of the late J. Staats and Jeannette Wyckoff Covert. He had resided all of his life in Neshanic Station.
He retired in 1986 from the family firm, J.S. Covert and Sons Farm Machinery Company, Neshanic Station, NJ.
He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.
A Graduate of Somerville High School, he was former chief of the Neshanic Volunteer Fire Company; member of the Neshanic Reformed Church; and the New Jersey Farm Machinery Dealers Association.
Surviving are his wife of seventy-one years, Lorlyn Lake Covert; a son and daughter-in-law, James S. and Joyce Covert of Neshanic Station, NJ; two granddaughters: Chris Yap and her husband Jon, and Kelly Batori and her husband Scott; and three great-grandchildren: Brien and Eric Batori and Morgan Yap, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Neshanic Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
