J. John “Jack” Kanach, age 90 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, died Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Flemington, NJ, February 5, 1932, son of the late Joseph and Stella Kowalski Kanach, Jack had resided in this area all his life.
A lifelong farmer, he was a graduate of Flemington High School, Class of 1950, where he was a member of the football and baseball teams.
Jack was a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church, the Amwell Valley Fire Company of Ringoes, NJ, and was a former director of the Somerset Savings & Loan Association. He was also a former member of the Hunterdon County Board of Agriculture, a former volunteer at the Flemington Fair and an avid supporter of the Pioneer Football League.
His passion was his family, farming, and skiing.
His wife of sixty-nine years, Marilyn “Mimi” Granzen Kanach died in 2021. He was also pre-deceased by two sons, Darryl Kanach, in 2011 and Douglas Kanach, in 2017.
Surviving is a son, Jeffrey Kanach, of Ringoes, NJ; three grandchildren, Todd Kanach, Emily Kanach and Samantha Kanach. Also surviving are two sisters, Joan Alles of Belvidere, NJ, and Janet Bosshard of Richmond VA; a brother, Gerry Kanach of Ringoes, NJ; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at 10:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 12, 2022, 6:00 PM-8:00 PM and Wednesday, 9:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
