John Thomas "Jack" Balint, age 73 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, died on Thursday, April 23, 2009, in Merwick Care Center, Princeton Hospice, Princeton, NJ.
Born in Trenton, NJ, September 6, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Anne McNamara Balint. He had resided in East Amwell Township for forty years.
He was a retired communications consultant, having worked for Bell Atlantic, AT&T, Mobil Oil, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and several pharmaceutical companies. He also had a real estate license with Weidel Realty for over twenty-five years.
He was the former Mayor and Deputy Mayor of East Amwell Township, and a four term Committeeman. He was a volunteer fireman for fifty-five years, first with Prospect Heights Fire Company, Ewing, NJ, then with the Amwell Valley Fire Company, Ringoes, NJ.
Jack was a member of the Hunterdon County Parks and Recreation Committee, former member of the East Amwell Township School Board, forty-three year member of the Flemington Elks Lodge #1928, and volunteered with the Hunterdon County Mr. Fixit program for over twenty-five years. He was formerly a Little League Manager with the Amwell Valley Little League.
Surviving are his wife, Courtenay Thomas Balint; three daughters; Susan Broschart of Lacey, NJ, Sharon Balint-Patterson of Pt. Pleasant, NJ and Cynthia Haney of Hopewell, NJ; a step-daughter, Rebecca Willey of Falls Church, VA; a step-son, Benjamin Willey of Fukui, Japan; three sisters, Joan Mahon of Ewing, NJ, Janice Roediger of Jenkintown, PA, and Judith Kelly of Hopewell, NJ; two brothers, Thomas Balint of Ewing, NJ, and Robert Balint of Ewing, NJ; special lifelong friends, Harry Johnson and Dr. Paul Roediger; seven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the United First Presbyterian Church of Amwell, 1000 Old York Road, Larison's Corner, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Amwell Ridge Cemetery, Larison's Corner, NJ. Calling hours will be Saturday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
