Jacques M. Sammes

Jacques M. Sammes, age 93 years, of Stockton, NJ, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ. Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, May 17, 1924, he was the son of the late Jacques Versteeg and Berthe Roget. Raised by his mother and stepfather Joseph Sammes in New York City, he attended Erasmus High School and New York University. A United States Army Veteran, Jacques ran a radio station during World War II in Tehran, Iran. He subsequently had a long career in network television and became the creative director for CBS television in New York. He is survived by his spouse, Dennis Bertland, several cousins and former partner, Luther Travis, who remained a close friend. Funeral services will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
