James T. Tracey of Long Valley, NJ passed away on Thursday, December 30th at the age of 76 surrounded by his family. Born on June 2, 1945 in Irvington, NJ, James was the son of the late James and Rita (Gaul) Tracey. He later moved to Livingston, living there until he moved to Long Valley (Washington Twp.), residing in the house he built with his wife for 48 years.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, James is survived by his wife Roberta (DeMarco) Tracey of 51 years, daughters, Kimberly Wimmer of Saylorsburg, PA and Nicole Tracey-Healy of Flemington, NJ, sons-in-law, David Wimmer and Jason Healy, and grandchildren, Kevin Wimmer, Christopher Wimmer, and Cate Healy.
James held undergraduate and graduate degrees in Mathematics from Rutgers University and a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic. He had a long career at Picatinny Arsenal as an engineer and cost analyst, retiring after more than 45 years.
Growing up, James spent summers with his parents and friends at a swim club in Livingston. He loved classic cars, going to car shows, model train sets, swimming, and going to the ocean, especially Wildwood Crest. He was a devoted father and grandfather, attending every band concert, dance recital, family gathering, and sporting event, rain, shine, or snow. A man of strong faith, James read his Bible daily and was a member of St. Luke’s Parish, also serving as a long-time usher.
James will be truly missed by his family and friends and will live on in our hearts forever.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 4th at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 314 Old Allerton Rd, Annandale, NJ 08801, followed with interment at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 am-10:00 am at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home at 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
