Jane B. Sorensen, age 97 years, of Flemington, NJ, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Country Arch Care Center, Pittstown, NJ.
Jane was born in Maplewood, NJ, March 1, 1927, daughter of the late Charles G. and Frieda Vogel Bauer, and had resided in Flemington since 1949.
Jane was a retired educator who was a music teacher for fifteen years at the Flemington-Raritan School System and was a guidance counselor for twenty-three years at Delaware Valley Regional High School until retiring. She was a graduate of Columbia High School, Trenton State College (now the College of New Jersey) and received her master’s degree from Columbia University.
She was a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Association of the church; member of the Flemington Woman’s Club and with her late husband, Carl Sorensen, was active in the Watchung Power Squadron. She was also a life member of the U.S. Power Squadron.
A very active person, Jane had several hobbies including sewing, knitting and reading among them. She and her husband each enjoyed driving and traveling in their R.V. all throughout the United States and Canada. They also traveled to Europe several times as well. Jane and her husband, Carl, also raised dachshunds for many years.
Jane was pre-deceased by her husband, Carl Sorensen, who died in 2014; by her nephew, John Denton, who died in 2024; by her stepbrother, John F. Denton; and her cousin, Leonard Deininger.
Surviving are her niece, Lauren Beck; and her late nephew’s wife, Maureen Denton.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 1:45 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Visitation will be Monday 1:00-1:45 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Man Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
