Janet T. Spaulding

Janet T. Spaulding, age 90 years, died Monday, July 25th, 2022, at home in Easton, PA. Janet was born November 19, 1931, in Honesdale, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Scott W. Spaulding. Jan, as she was known by her family and friends, was the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Bates Tolley. Jan’s older brother, Ronald C. Tolley, and her younger sister, Marilyn S. Ellsworth, are both deceased. Jan graduated from Honesdale High School in 1949 and from Wayne Commercial School in 1951. She worked for the Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator until 1955 when she moved to New Jersey to work at Picatinny Arsenal. Throughout her career she was promoted to various positions of greater responsibility, the last prior to retiring was as Program Analyst for the Project Manager MCD, managing R&D funds for the engineers. Jan met and married her husband, Scott, while working at the Arsenal. They both retired together. After retirement she worked part time for Schlott Realtors before moving to Prescott, Arizona in 1989. Jan was involved in a number of non- profit organizations, serving as President of the Prescott Symphony Guild, the PFAA Charter Auxiliary, and the Yavapai Symphony Association. Jan also served on the Board of the Prescott Fine Arts Association. In 2004, she became a member of Chapter CO, P.E.O., where she served as Corresponding Secretary for 2 years. In 2009, she became a charter member of a newly formed Chapter of P.E.O. - Chapter FE. Jan enjoyed many hobbies with friends including counted cross stitch, quilting, playing bridge, golfing, gourmet cooking and crossword and word search puzzles. Jan and husband Scott moved back East nine years ago to be closer to family. She leaves behind a nephew, five nieces, two great nieces, four great-great nieces, five great nephews, three great-great nephews and a sister-in-law. Jan will be dearly missed by her friends and loved ones. Graveside services, under direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, will be held in the East Dyberry Cemetery, 25 Niles Pond Road, Honesdale, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jan's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
