Jean Carole Pepe, age 87, died Friday, March 6, 2020, at her home in Three Bridges NJ surrounded by her family. She lived a fulfilling, independent life enjoying time with her many long-time friends and family. This past year, she battled cancer with her famous wit and courage through to the end. She was an inspiration to all who met her and helped her on this challenging journey.
Born November 13, 1932 in Reading PA, Jean was the daughter of the late Carl J. and Pauline (Reidinger) Lanzendorfer, twin sister to Bette (Lanzendorfer ) Law and brother, Joe Lanzendorfer.
Jean was a volunteer for many non-profit groups in Flemington for many years. In her later years, she volunteered for the Hunterdon Medical Center as a Patient Advocate, Lights of Love, and was the Chairman for Gifts From the Heart for many years.
In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Thomas A. Pepe in 1983. She is survived by her two sons: Anthony Pepe and his wife Debbie of Champlin, MN, and Joseph Pepe and his wife Loren Morales Pepe of Rutland VT; her two daughters: Carole Pepe and her husband Joel Boriek of Frenchtown NJ, and Annemarie Pepe-Hamilton of Three Bridges NJ, as well as her six grandchildren, Belinda McCurry, Tammi Pauly, Captain Thomas Pepe, DDS, Ryan Pepe, and Lianna Pepe, and 2 great grandchildren, Liam and Louie McCurry. Additionally, Jean’s sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Torchy, Bette Evegan, and their families, and her sister Bette’s family are lovingly remembered.
Cremation and interment of cremated remains in Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains NJ are private. A Celebration of Life will be forthcoming. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ.
