Jean G. Arnold, age 95, died Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Rolling Hills Care Center in Clinton Township NJ.
Born April 25, 1927 in Flemington NJ, Jean was the daughter of the late Melville and Gladys (Keephart) Godley. She was a life-long and active member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church.
Jean graduated from West Chester University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She was an elementary school teacher in Somerville for many years and became a substitute teacher for many of the Hunterdon County public schools, especially for the local high schools.
Jean loved to play bridge with her late husband, Richard Arnold, and many friends throughout the years. She enjoyed a good crossword puzzle and was very creative and artistic. Her many beautiful oil paintings have been enjoyed by so many for years. Jean had a passion for music and inspired her own children and others to pursue their musical paths. She especially enjoyed listening to the organ at the Flemington Presbyterian Church and would linger after services were complete and until the final note was played.
Jean was also known in Flemington to many that will remember her affectionately as the “Apple Lady” - delivering local apples to the Flemington community for all to enjoy.
In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Richard J. Arnold in 2013. She is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Richard G. and Ann Arnold of Plainsboro NJ, David and Linda Arnold of Florida, and Daniel and Cheryl Arnold of Clinton NJ, as well as her grandson, Daniel Arnold.
