Jean H. Lobb, age 91 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at his residence.
Born in Bangor, PA, October 10, 1920. he was the son of the late Harrison and Sydna Ellis Lobb.
Mr. Lobb previously resided in Plainfield, NJ, before moving to Readington Township in 1964.
He was a graduate of Plainfield High School class of 1938, and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. He was a well regarded businessman and was a general contractor at Lobb Brothers, Inc. where he built many fine homes throughout Hunterdon County.
He was a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II where he was a Lieutenant flying over 35 missions in Europe. Mr. Lobb was awarded the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters, a Presidential Citation, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Subsequent to the war, he joined the NJ National Guard and retired at the rank of Captain.
He was a former City Councilman in Plainfield and served on the Somerset Savings Bank Board of Directors and was once the Chairman of the Board. He went on to serve as the Readington Township Building Inspector.
His wife, June P. Lobb, died in 2004. He was also pre-deceased by his sister, Elizabeth Green Surviving are three daughters Donna L. Morris of Whitehouse Station, NJ, Jean L. Emery of Chester, VT, and Esther Landitch of Mt. Bethel, PA; a brother, William Lobb of Flemington, NJ; a sister, Joanne Hufstetter of Normandy Beach, NJ; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 1:30 PM in the Stanton Reformed Church, Stanton, NJ. Interment will be private.
