Jean R. Hunt

East Amwell Township – Jean R. Hunt, age 96, died Sunday, February 7, 2016 at her home in East Amwell surrounded by her family. Born May 24, 1919, in Stockton NJ, Jean was the daughter of the late Horace and Olive (Lawshe) Romine. Living in Hunterdon County all of her life, Jean was named after her cousin, Jean Broadhurst, a Professor of Bacteriology at Columbia University, who discovered a test for the early detection of measles. After graduation from Lambertville High School, Jean attended the Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse with Hunterdon Medical Center for many years. She also received a Bachelor’s Degree from Rider Business College in Trenton NJ and was a secretary with the offices of Walter Foran and the Republican Headquarters in Flemington. Jean and her late husband, Benner E. Hunt, were long-time members of Old Rocks Church in West Amwell Township NJ. In addition to her husband in 2008, Jean was predeceased by her brother George Romine and her sister, Dorothy Hooven. She is survived by her three children, her sons Robert Hunt of Hillsborough NJ, and Leigh R. Hunt of East Amwell Township, her daughter, Jean B. Hunt of Bushkill PA, her granddaughter, Elizabeth Murphy of Exton PA, as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Old Rocks Church, 260 Mount Airy Harbourton Road, Lambertville, NJ. Interment in Sandy Ridge Cemetery will follow.
