Jeanne R. Bennett, 77, of Bangor, PA passed away Friday, February 23rd, at her residence.
Jeanne was born in Doylestown, PA on August 8, 1946. The daughter of the late Mable R. (Sprague) Lewis and Paul V. Lewis, Sr. She was the widow of Ernest M. Bennett, Sr. who passed away in 2013.
Jeanne attended Hunterdon Central High School in Flemington, NJ. In her younger years, she worked at the Hunterdon County Democrat. The local newspaper. She wrote and published a children’s story called, “Ricky Raccoon”. She was later employed by several different social service agencies in Hunterdon County, Pioneer on Wheels, Norwescap, and the Adult Day Care program, working with the elderly and handicapped. Upon moving from New Jersey to Pennsylvania, she became a Home Health care aide for the elderly in her community.
Jeanne enjoyed gardening and canning. She was an avid Weaver and Spinner, she taught classes on Shearing, Carding, and Spinning Wool on Drop Spindles as well a Spinning Wheels. She taught Weaving Classes and traveled throughout NJ, NY and PA. She also had one of her weavings on display at the Trenton State Museum. She taught classes on the use of natural plants and things from nature used to dye fibers. She enjoyed Crocheting, Knitting and Sewing. She was also extremely talented in drawing, painting and wood burning. An all-around artist.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Ginger A. Roles (wife of David), Ernest M. Bennett, Jr. (husband of Angela), Timothy L. Bennett, Sr. (fiancé of Angela Bruce), and Kimberly L. Curtis (wife of Chris). She has three brothers and one sister. She has 10 grandchildren, Casey, Samantha, Sidni, Harleigh, Jeri, Timothy Jr. (TJ), Colton, Ariana, Amber and Karlee, and 2 great-grandchildren, Alice and Kiera.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at the Kingwood Township Park, 200 Union Road, Frenchtown, New Jersey 08825 @1:00 p.m. on June 1, 2024.
Final arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
