Jeannette F. Petrus, age 78 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, died Monday, April 18, 2022, at her home.
Born in Garwood, NJ, February 26, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Amy Smack Fitzsimmons.
Jeannette was a health and physical education teacher at Bridgewater-Raritan High School West and a Special Education teacher at East Mountain Day School. She was an avid sports fan and coached softball, basketball, and field hockey at Bridgewater West. She also coached her kids’ recreational sports teams for several years and loved cheering them on from the stands. Grammy, as she was lovingly called, adored her grandchildren, and delighted in every moment shared with them and the rest of the family. Family was everything to Grammy and those moments will be cherished forever.
She is pre-deceased by one brother, William Fitzsimmons. Surviving are her loving husband of forty-nine years, Michael F. Petrus; her two children, Matthew Petrus and his wife, Molly of Waltham, MA, and Kathryn Kneisly and her husband, Andrew of West Chester, PA; three grandchildren, Maryn Petrus, Maddox Petrus, and Margot Kneisly, and three siblings, James Fitzsimmons of North Plainfield, NJ, Ginger Bayne of Lake Dora, FL and Brad Fitzsimmons of Ocean City, MD.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, 2022, at 3:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Ringoes, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, from 2:00-3:00 PM in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Jeannette’s name may be made to the Hunterdon Medical Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
