Jeffrey B. Brunt

Jeffrey B. Brunt, age 69 years, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ. Born on November 7, 1955, in Flemington, NJ, he was a lifelong Hunterdon County, NJ resident and graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School.

A proud veteran, Jeffrey served in the United States Coast Guard for six years, a service commitment he often spoke of with immense pride. His love for his country was evident in all aspects of his life, further defining the man who was deeply patriotic.

For 42 years, Jeffrey served as a flooring salesman at The Flemington Department Store, where he was known for his exceptional customer service, knowledgeable advice, quick wit and smart mouth. He built lasting relationships with many clients and colleagues, earning their respect and admiration throughout his career.

Jeffrey was a devoted man who was deeply proud of all his children – Jason Brunt, Justin Brunt, Marlow Murphy, and Sean Murphy – whom he loved with all his heart. He had a special bond with his granddaughter, Penny, whom he adored and cherished as a bright light in his life. Jeffrey is also survived by Carol Brunt, with whom he spent many wonderful years, and whose love carried him through the latter half of his life.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Jeffrey found happiness in nature's beauty. He was a passionate New York Yankees fan, celebrating their victories each season with an enthusiasm that was contagious, and equally loved complaining about the Philadelphia Eagles. His fondness for Cherry Coke, cheeseburgers, and Marlboro reds along with love of 70's classic rock, particularly artists like The Eagles and Jackson Browne, were defining aspects of his personality. He took great pleasure in the melodic sounds of the blues as well, as the rhythmic wailing of John Lee Hooker often accompanied him during his moments of leisure.

Jeffrey was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth J. Brunt, Sr. and Cathryn (Tinnes) Brunt.

He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
