Jerome (Jerry) Potash, age 90 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Sunday, August 2, 2015, at his home.
Born in Paterson, NJ, June 5, 1925, son of the late William and Lena Littman Potash, he had resided in Raritan Township since 1966.
Jerry was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering (NJIT) and also received his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from NJIT. He was a serial entrepreneur and inventor. He enjoyed time with family, mentoring students, fishing and chess.
Jerry was the founder & owner of OPT Industries, Phillipsburg, NJ. Jerry was also a President of the American Electronics Association; President of the Flemington-Raritan Board of Education and a Little League Manager with the Flemington-Raritan Little League. An accomplished electrical engineer, he was the holder of three patents.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Sophia Malczynski Potash; two sons, Richard Potash of Duxbury, MA. and Robert Potash of Dedham, MA.; two daughters, Diane Potash and Lori Ann Potash both of Flemington, NJ; and six grandchildren – Rebecca, Chloe, Ben, Carson, Casey, and Samantha.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 5:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Saturday from 2:00-5:00 PM at the funeral home.
